Whirlpool Corporation is a massive brand but it's been hit with safety issues several times in recent years.
The biggest safety issues reported in the mainstream media were:
Tumble dryers under the Creda, Hotpoint, Indesit, Proline and Swan brands, manufactured between April 2004 and September 2015 – though safety warnings about the machines date back to 2015, Whirlpool only released a product recall for this issue in 2019

Whirlpool were very slow to react and faced very heavy criticism.
The fire at Genfell Tower was reportedly started by a Hotpoint Freezer. During a report for the inquiry, electrical fire expert Dr John Duncan Glover stated: "A probable cause of the fire is a poor crimp connection for an overheated wire connector within the compressor relay compartment for the fridge-freezer (Hotpoint Model FF175BP) from Flat 16."
The latest safety issue comes in the form of a faulty door catch and was inhereted by Whirlpool when they purchased Indesit back in 2014.
The fault which is found in some Indesit and Hotpoint washing machines manufactured between 2014 and 2018 does not affect appliances under the Whirlpool brand.
